What Happened on The Voice This Season That Left Adam Levine Stunned?

The latest season of The Voice delivered an unforgettable moment for longtime coach Adam Levine—one that had him celebrating in a way fans rarely see.

For years, the Maroon 5 frontman has joked about losing nearly every country singer during the show’s Blind Auditions to former coach Blake Shelton. This season, however, things finally changed.

A Country Singer Finally Joins Team Adam

During the second night of the Blind Auditions, 22-year-old Hunter Jordan from Maysville, Kentucky took the stage and performed “Let Me Down Easy” by Billy Currington.

His performance impressed the coaches enough to earn a Triple Turn, a new Season 29 twist that rewards contestants who get three chairs to turn. The feature adds extra stakes for coaches, as the one who secures the most three-chair artists earns a powerful Super Steal advantage in the Battle Rounds.

After Jordan’s performance, Levine found himself competing with fellow coaches John Legend and Kelly Clarkson to recruit the talented singer.

The Pitch That Changed Everything

Before making his decision, Jordan admitted that Clarkson had always been his favorite coach. The singer praised her impressive track record on the show, noting that she had already won four seasons.

But Levine wasn’t ready to give up.

Standing up and delivering a passionate pitch, he declared that this would finally be the moment he secured a country artist for his team.

“I’m not Captain Country—I’m Admiral Country,” Levine joked while trying to persuade Jordan. He argued that choosing Team Adam would shake up the competition and create an unexpected pairing that could intrigue fans.

Levine even pointed out that unusual combinations can work, referencing his longtime rivalry and friendship with Shelton during earlier seasons of the show.

The Decision That Sparked a Wild Celebration

After listening to all three coaches, Jordan paused before revealing his choice.

“I think I’m gonna blaze a path with Adam,” he announced.

The moment Jordan chose Team Adam, Levine erupted with excitement. The coach jumped out of his chair and even performed a somersault on stage to celebrate.

Later, Levine admitted he may have gotten a little carried away—but he had a good reason.

“I went fully insane over Hunter because he deserves it,” he said. “But also because I always lose country artists. I had to go turbo this time.”

Levine’s Long History With The Voice

Levine has been a central part of The Voice since its beginning. As one of the show’s original coaches, he appeared for 16 consecutive seasons before leaving in 2019 to focus on family life and other projects.

During his time away, Levine spoke about wanting to spend more time with his wife and children after years of balancing a demanding schedule with his band, Maroon 5.

His return to the show has been welcomed by longtime viewers. Levine previously helped crown the show’s very first winner, Javier Colon, in Season 1, and later celebrated victories with Tessanne Chin and Jordan Smith.

A New Twist for Season 29

Season 29, which premiered on February 23, also introduced a major format change. For the first time, the competition features only three coaches instead of the usual four, with each building a team of 10 artists.

With the new structure and fresh twists, the competition feels more intense than ever—and Levine is clearly determined to prove he still has what it takes.

“I’m back for my 18th season, and I haven’t lost my stuff,” Levine said earlier this year. “I’m still crushing it.”

And if his reaction to landing a country singer is any indication, fans can expect plenty more unforgettable moments this season.
