WNBA star Caitlin Clark has offered a promising update regarding her return to the court following a left quad strain that has sidelined her for the past three games. The injury occurred during the Indiana Fever’s matchup against the New York Liberty on May 24, a game in which Clark continued to play despite discomfort.
An MRI confirmed the strain and initially ruled her out for approximately two weeks. While her absence has extended slightly beyond that timeline, Clark indicated she is making strong progress and is staying patient with her recovery.
“I’ll miss this weekend’s game against the Chicago Sky,” Clark said in a recent interview, “but after that, it’ll be a day-by-day evaluation. I’ll lean on the medical staff and see how I feel.”
Since her injury, the Fever have faced some challenges, including losses to the Mystics and the Sun, before bouncing back with a win against the Mystics. Clark acknowledged the frustration of being sidelined but emphasized the importance of not rushing her recovery.
“It’s just not worth it to come back too soon,” she said. “After this weekend, we’ll reassess and have a better idea of when I’ll be able to play again.”
The Fever are set to face the Chicago Sky next, followed by a break until their June 10 game against the Atlanta Dream and a June 14 rematch with the Liberty. Clark hinted she could return for one of those matchups but stopped short of setting a firm date.
“We’re not trying to lock in anything specific,” she explained. “It really depends on how I feel each day. Some days I wake up and feel great, others not as much. So we’ll see — it’s definitely a possibility, but nothing is guaranteed yet.”
Currently, the Indiana Fever sit third in the Eastern Conference with a .429 winning percentage and rank seventh overall in the league.
