Howell took the stage during this week’s episode and performed “Don’t Tread On Me” by We The Kingdom, showcasing not only her vocal strength but her deep connection to the song’s faith-driven message. Having spent years singing at festivals and connecting with live audiences, she stepped into the audition room with a level of comfort and stage presence far beyond her age.
When judge Carrie Underwood asked about her musical influences, Howell shared that she’s especially drawn to Christian rock—a passion she clearly brought to life in her performance. Dressed in a rhinestone-accented denim dress, Howell commanded attention as she navigated challenging vocal runs with ease, delivering each lyric with conviction and emotional clarity.
The judges were immediately impressed.
Underwood praised Howell’s vocal versatility, noting that her voice could easily cross genres.
“You sometimes kind of have this grittiness in your voice,” Underwood said. “I could hear you singing country. I could hear you singing something like Stevie Nicks.”
Then came the comment that truly stunned viewers—Underwood added that she hears elements of former American Idol star Gabby Barrett in Howell’s sound, hinting at serious country music potential.
Luke Bryan couldn’t help but joke that Howell may have broken a “Carrie Underwood note-holding record,” impressed by how long she sustained one of her notes. Underwood laughed and replied, “We might have to test it out someday.”
