MOSS POINT, Miss. — A Mississippi singer is heading to Hollywood after delivering a standout performance on American Idol.
Moss Point High School graduate Daniel Stallworth earned a coveted golden ticket to Hollywood Week during Monday night’s episode of the hit ABC singing competition. Stallworth impressed judges with his powerful rendition of Journey’s classic anthem, “Don’t Stop Believin’,” securing his place in the next round of the competition.
His advancement continues Mississippi’s recent success on the American Idol stage. Less than a year ago, Meridian native Jamal Roberts won the competition, and Stallworth now joins the growing list of Mississippi artists making waves on the national stage.
Another young performer from the state, 15-year-old Tate Emmons of Lake, Mississippi, also auditioned during the episode. While Emmons delivered a strong performance, she did not advance to Hollywood Week.
Judges praised Stallworth for his vocal strength, stage presence, and ability to connect with the song’s uplifting message. His performance stood out among the night’s auditions and drew an enthusiastic response from both the panel and the audience, signaling strong potential as the competition continues.

Stallworth’s success adds to Mississippi’s growing legacy on American Idol. Just last year, Meridian native Jamal Roberts claimed the Season 23 title, putting a spotlight on the state’s deep musical roots. Stallworth now follows in those footsteps, carrying high hopes from his hometown and supporters across Mississippi.
Another local talent, 15-year-old Tate Emmons of Lake, Mississippi, also took the Idol stage during the episode. Despite delivering a heartfelt performance, Emmons did not advance to Hollywood Week. Still, her appearance marked an important milestone early in her musical journey.
Hollywood Week episodes have already been filmed and are set to air next month. The round is widely considered one of the most demanding phases of the competition, testing contestants’ versatility, endurance, and ability to perform under pressure.
Fans will be able to watch Stallworth continue his American Idol journey when Hollywood Week airs on WLOX ABC, as viewers across the region tune in to see whether the Mississippi singer can keep the momentum going.
