Murphy’s Braden Rumfelt Calls on Fans to Vote as American Idol Enters the Live Voting Stage

As American Idol moves into its high-stakes live voting rounds, North Carolina singer Braden Rumfelt is turning directly to fans with an emotional message asking for their support.

The 22-year-old from Murphy, North Carolina has steadily gained momentum throughout Season 24, quietly becoming one of the contestants many viewers believe could go all the way. In a heartfelt video shared with supporters, Rumfelt thanked fans for standing by him and encouraged them to vote as the competition grows more intense.

A Journey Filled With Challenges

Rumfelt’s path to the Idol stage hasn’t been easy. The young singer has dealt with knee problems for much of his life and has even undergone surgery. Despite those obstacles, he never gave up on his dream of making music.

Music has always been deeply rooted in his family life. Rumfelt previously shared that his father encouraged creativity from the very beginning.

“When I was a baby, my dad would sit musical instruments at the bottom of our cribs,” he recalled. “Growing up in a family where it’s cool to sing — that’s what got me to this point.”

That supportive environment helped shape the singer who would later perform on one of television’s biggest stages.

Standout Performances on the Show

Rumfelt first caught the judges’ attention with a powerful audition performing Girl Crush by Little Big Town. He continued impressing during Hollywood Week with a heartfelt version of I’m Not the Only One by Sam Smith.

During the Top 30 “Ohana Round,” Rumfelt showcased another side of his artistry with a soulful performance of If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys. The performance started softly before building into powerful emotional moments that highlighted his smooth tone and vocal control.

The judges were clearly impressed. Luke Bryan previously described Rumfelt as a “race horse” in the competition, suggesting he has the potential to go far. Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood praised his voice as “velvety and big,” adding that he has “a lot of power in all the right places.”

One Step Closer to the Title

Rumfelt’s performances helped him secure a spot in the Top 20, bringing him one step closer to the American Idol crown. The round also saw several contestants eliminated as the field narrowed.

The remaining singers will now perform for America’s votes at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii, where they’ll receive guidance from celebrity mentors Brad Paisley and Keke Palmer.

Rumfelt is encouraging fans to show their support and help push him into the next round:
