Strictly Come Dancing star Dr Punam Krishan has shared a deeply personal and hopeful update after revealing she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 42-year-old TV doctor, who is a familiar face on Morning Live, disclosed earlier this week that she received her diagnosis five months ago and has since been undergoing treatment. Despite expressing heartfelt gratitude to the medical team caring for her, Punam admitted the experience has been “harder than I ever imagined”.
Choosing to keep her diagnosis private until now, Dr Punam shared a powerful image of herself in a hospital bed, alongside a moving message reflecting on the strength she has drawn from her loved ones. “My husband, my family and a small circle of friends have carried me through in ways I’ll never forget,” she wrote. “When something like this happens, you realise very quickly what — and who — truly matters.”
Following her post, an outpouring of support flooded in from fans, colleagues and fellow celebrities, with many praising her courage and openness.
Taking to social media again this week, Dr Punam thanked her followers for their kindness and shared a tender tribute to her dog, Simba. Posting a photo of the pair cuddled together, she wrote: “I want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to you all for the love and kindness over the last 24 hours. I’m reading every single message, and words can’t express how much they’ve meant to me.”
She continued: “This community has always been a valued part of my life, and I feel so held here by you all. What I’ve learned through all of this is that when the going gets tough, love becomes an anchor — and I’m moving forward with that strength.”
Ending on a touching note, Dr Punam paid tribute to Simba, adding: “He has quietly been by my side every step of the way. No words, no expectations — just constant, unconditional love. He has played a huge part in my healing and recovery.”
Her heartfelt words sparked another wave of supportive messages, with fans sending prayers, positivity and encouragement as she continues her journey. For many, Dr Punam’s openness has become a powerful reminder of resilience, gratitude and the strength found in love — even during life’s most challenging moments.
