Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton has been surrounded by love and support following the devastating loss of a close friend and colleague. The 43-year-old dancer shared the sad news over the weekend, paying a heartfelt tribute that moved fans and fellow stars alike.

Taking to social media on January 11, Kevin posted a touching photograph of TV producer Jonathan Clough, alongside another image of the pair together during their time working on Strictly. Jonathan, who worked as a producer on the BBC show during Kevin’s years on the dancefloor, passed away aged just 37 after a brave battle with brain cancer.

In his emotional tribute, Kevin described Jonathan as “an amazing friend, an amazing man, an amazing father and a heck of a fighter for his amazing family.” He added simply: “I will miss you forever,” words that resonated deeply with those who knew and admired Jonathan.

Standing firmly by Kevin’s side is his partner, broadcaster Stacey Dooley. Stacey, who shares three-year-old daughter Minnie with Kevin, publicly showed her support by commenting a red heart emoji on his post — a quiet but powerful gesture of solidarity during an incredibly painful time.

Fans and friends quickly flooded the comments with messages of love and remembrance. “Much love, Kev,” wrote one follower, while another said: “Heck of a man who will be missed so very much.” Others described Jonathan as “one of a kind,” expressing sorrow for his family and loved ones.

Several familiar faces from the Strictly family also showed their support, including Janette Manrara and Kevin’s sister Joanne Clifton, both of whom liked the tribute post.

Jonathan was diagnosed with a Grade 4 glioblastoma in 2024 at the age of 35. Following his diagnosis, a GoFundMe page was set up to help him access specialist treatment, allowing him precious extra time with his family.

Actor Sam Swainsbury later shared how the outpouring of support made a life-changing difference. He revealed that the funding allowed Jonathan to witness milestones that once seemed impossible — including his daughter’s first day at school and her first school play. Jonathan also lived to celebrate Christmas before sadly passing away on Boxing Day.

“He fought for every last second and exceeded all expectations,” Sam wrote. “He was extraordinary.”

Alongside his work on Strictly Come Dancing, Jonathan also contributed to major TV productions including Gogglebox and The Apprentice. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

The loss comes during an already difficult period for Kevin, who faced another family bereavement just months earlier when his uncle passed away in September.

As tributes continue to pour in, one thing remains clear: Jonathan Clough’s impact — as a producer, a father, and a friend — will not be forgotten.
