American Idol Adjusts Schedule During the Winter Olympics — Here’s What Fans Need to Know

American Idol Season 24 is in full swing, with auditions captivating viewers each week. The show premiered on Monday, January 26, and returned for Episode 2 on February 2. But with the Winter Olympics running from February 6–20, fans may wonder how the broadcast schedule will be affected.

While NBC is airing Olympic coverage, ABC is keeping American Idol on the air, though a few adjustments are in place.

  • Episode 3 will air as scheduled on Monday, February 9, at 8/7c. Fans who miss it can stream it the next day on Hulu, or catch a rerun on Sunday, February 15, at 9/8c.

  • The schedule for the week of February 16 hasn’t been officially released yet, but Episode 4, featuring more auditions, is expected to air that Monday. These are the only two Mondays likely affected by Olympic broadcasts.

  • On Sunday, February 8, ABC will re-air Episode 2 in a two-hour block at 9/8c, giving viewers another chance to catch up.

Season 24 features Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan as judges. Underwood returns for her second season, while Richie and Bryan continue their ninth. Ratings for the premiere were the highest since 2022, signaling strong momentum for the season.
