Eighteen-year-old Ashley Marina made a powerful impression during her Blind Audition on The Voice, earning an exciting three-chair turn after delivering an emotional performance of Tonight I Wanna Cry by Keith Urban.
The singer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania stepped onto the stage with confidence, but it didn’t take long for the nerves to show once the coaches turned their chairs. Still, her heartfelt vocals were enough to catch the attention of three major names in music: Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and John Legend.
Coaches Praise Her Talent
After the performance, the coaches were quick to share their thoughts. Clarkson noted that she could hear a blend of country and other musical influences in Marina’s voice, though she acknowledged the singer seemed a little nervous once the chairs turned.
Marina admitted that the moment made her anxious, something Clarkson said she completely understood.
“I think you have a killer voice,” Clarkson told her, adding that she would love to help Marina work through those nerves.
Levine also praised the young singer, explaining that during Blind Auditions the coaches hear so many performances that it can sometimes be difficult to immediately recognize something truly special. But in Marina’s case, he said, it was clear.
“You absolutely know that what you’re listening to is really special,” Levine said, encouraging her to push past the nerves and continue growing as an artist.
Legend echoed those compliments, highlighting the beauty and musicality of Marina’s voice.
“We heard different parts of your voice, and it was really beautiful and really tasteful,” he said. “The fact that you’re doing all that at 18 is incredibly impressive.”
Choosing Her Coach
With three coaches eager to have her on their teams, Marina faced a difficult decision. After a brief pause, she revealed that she would be joining Team John Legend, securing a strong mentor for the next stage of the competition.
A Familiar Face for Talent Show Fans
For some viewers, Marina already looked familiar. Before her audition, she revealed that she previously appeared on America’s Got Talent when she was just 12 years old.
While she was eliminated after the second round at the time, Marina said the experience helped shape her as a performer.
Now 18, she’s returning to the spotlight with greater confidence and experience. She’s also currently studying as a commercial music major in Nashville, continuing to build her career while pursuing her education.
A Promising Journey Ahead
With a three-chair turn, praise from the coaches, and a spot on Team Legend, Ashley Marina’s journey on The Voice is just getting started. If her Blind Audition is any indication, fans may be seeing much more of the rising young singer in the weeks ahead. 🎤✨
