Dylan Delivers Surprises and Rarities at Outlaw Music Festival in Idaho

Bob Dylan Surprises Fans with Rare Setlist Shake-Up at Outlaw Music Festival in Idaho

Nampa, Idaho – May 20, 2025 — Music legend Bob Dylan delivered a night to remember at the Outlaw Music Festival, treating fans to a setlist full of surprises, rare moments, and an unforgettable performance of a beloved classic.

Departing from the setlists he’s used in recent years, Dylan opened the show with a powerful rendition of “Gotta Serve Somebody,” replacing the longtime opener “Things Have Changed.” But the real headline-grabber came mid-set when Dylan pulled a deep cut from his catalog — “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues.”

Performed with lyrics for the first time since July 15, 2014, and marking its first U.S. performance since 2012, the song stunned longtime fans. Dylan began the number on guitar, a rare sight in recent years, before transitioning to piano. His soulful, slightly gritty delivery brought new life to the classic track, drawing thunderous applause from the crowd.

“To Ramona,” a staple in many of Dylan’s recent performances, was notably absent — replaced by the unexpected gem. The surprise move added a fresh energy to the night and served as a reminder that even after decades on the road, Dylan remains full of unpredictability and artistic fire.

Fans in attendance wasted no time capturing the magic, sharing clips of “Just Like Tom Thumb’s Blues” across social media. One standout moment included bassist Tony Garnier featured at the song’s conclusion — a subtle but fan-favorite moment that added to the show’s charm.

These live snippets have fueled growing excitement for the rest of Dylan’s appearances on the Outlaw Music Festival tour, which promises more legendary moments still to come.

At 83, Dylan proves once again: he’s not just a voice of a generation — he’s still writing its soundtrack.
