Rylan Clark has been flooded with messages of support after revealing that his much-loved mum, Linda, was rushed to hospital following a frightening fall outside her home.
The TV and radio star shared that Linda, 73, slipped on ice while putting out her rubbish during the recent cold snap. Mistaking the icy ground for water, she lost her footing and fell heavily, leaving her with a fractured shoulder and severe bruising.
Linda spoke candidly about the incident during an appearance on Rylan’s BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, January 10, describing the moment she went down.
“I just went flying,” she admitted. “I’ve hurt my arm again. It’s black with bruises and so sore.”
Rylan, who wasn’t with his mum at the time, revealed he first learned about the accident through a worrying phone call.
“That was a lovely call to get that morning,” he said, trying to keep things light. “You were on your way to the hospital. It could’ve been worse though — it could’ve been your arm and your leg like before.”
Clearly concerned, Rylan urged Linda to slow down and take care of herself.
“I need you to be careful,” he told her. “Please don’t make it any worse.”
Listeners quickly rallied around the presenter, sending messages of love and well wishes to both Rylan and Linda. Overwhelmed by the response, he later reassured fans that his mum was recovering.
“She’s alright, by the way,” he said. “She’s fractured her shoulder. I just can’t help her — you know what she’s like, always rushing around. But honestly, it was just an accident. She slipped on ice.”
This isn’t the first health scare Linda has faced — or the first time she’s left her son deeply worried. Last July, Rylan was forced to step away from his Radio 2 show after Linda was rushed to A&E with a mystery illness.
At the time, he updated fans on Instagram, writing:
“Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow. Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital — especially Tanya who really looked after my mum. Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper.”
Known and adored by fans through her appearances on Celebrity Gogglebox, Linda remains a firm favourite — and judging by the outpouring of support, she’s clearly not facing this latest setback alone.
As Rylan reminded listeners, she may be bruised and sore, but Linda Clark is nothing if not resilient. 💙
