Tom Jones Gave Up His £6.5M LA Mansion for Love—and Found Peace in London

Sir Tom Jones, the legendary Voice coach and music icon, made a life-changing decision rooted in love and loyalty. After nearly two decades in Los Angeles, Tom walked away from his £6.5 million mansion—not for fame or fortune, but to fulfill the final wish of his beloved late wife, Linda.

Currently recovering from a bout of viral laryngitis that forced him to cancel a show in Budapest, Tom is spending time at his London home—a place that holds deep emotional meaning. While fans are used to seeing him light up the stage, few know the heartfelt story behind his return to the UK.

In a 2018 interview with the Sunday Mirror, Tom opened up about the emotional reason he left LA. “Linda wanted to come back to Britain, she was always homesick,” he shared. “Then she got sick and we couldn’t do it. She told me to go back the last week she was alive. She told me to get a flat in London. She would have loved to have come back but we left it too late.”

Their LA home was more than just a house—it was a space Linda had lovingly decorated herself. After her passing, Tom found it difficult to remain there. “I didn’t feel comfortable staying,” he admitted. When he eventually sold the property in 2018, it turned out to be the perfect arrangement: the buyer wanted to keep everything exactly as it was. “Apart from the photographs and some artwork, the man who bought it wanted the whole thing—furniture and everything,” Tom explained. “That was great for me, because I wouldn’t have been able to put all that stuff into a flat.”

The sprawling five-bedroom, seven-bathroom home featured a bold, animal-themed design. Think leopard print rugs (even on the stairs), matching towels and flannels, and ornaments of giraffes and gazelles. It also boasted an outdoor swimming pool and a large garden, all of which Tom originally purchased for £2.1 million.

Today, Tom lives more modestly in London. While his current home may be smaller in scale, it holds just as much heart. During the pandemic, he gave fans a rare glimpse inside while performing for BBC Radio 2. One photo revealed a minimalist home office with a concrete bookcase, and another showed a casual performance setup on a decking area in his garden.

Though he may have left behind the glitz of LA, Tom Jones has found something far more meaningful—a life that honors love, memory, and the simple joys of home.
