Carrie grew up on a farm in Oklahoma, so in many ways, her journey to this homestead feels like coming home. Purchased in 2011 and completed in 2018, the custom-built estate features rolling hills, a lake, horse stables, a wraparound porch, and plenty of space for her ever-growing garden — her personal sanctuary.
After a scary fall in 2017 that led to over 40 stitches, Carrie craved a life of greater privacy and purpose. She found both in the soil.
Her “Happy Place” Is Covered in Dirt
In the garden, Carrie’s not a celebrity — she’s a student of nature. She spends her days tending to nearly three dozen tomato plants (including 25 heirloom varieties), plus rows of onions, squash, beans, herbs, and peppers. In 2023, she teamed up with Epic Gardening to build a stunning greenhouse filled with citrus trees and seedlings ready to feed her family.
Just outside, her chickens roam freely, gifting fresh eggs each morning. The land bursts with apples, peaches, blueberries, and blackberries — everything they need to eat well, organically, and from their own backyard.
Even their cows — Brownie and Oreo — were a surprise gift from Mike, lovingly named by son Isaiah.
A Lifestyle of Purpose
Nothing goes to waste on the Underwood-Fisher farm. Scraps feed the chickens, compost feeds the soil, and love feeds the home. Carrie is proud to say they eat mostly off the land — from homegrown veggies and eggs to wild game hunted by Mike.
“This isn’t just a hobby,” Carrie says. “It feels good to do these things. It feels right.”
Her ultimate goal? To stop grocery shopping altogether. And she’s learning more every season, devouring gardening podcasts and books, and learning through trial and error.
